We’ve stumbled upon the below video from Morningstar Fishermen in Hawaii and wanted to share it with you guys. It’s a great demo for what you can achieve with your aquaponics system. Theirs is a highly efficient and relatively inexpensive system, and is also a terrific example of the wide range of produce you can grow in such a system.

The video is pretty long so you can skip parts of it. The first few mins are about aquaponics shop in Hawaii, which is not relevant to us folks in India, so you can fast forward to 2.40 where you get the first glimpse of their system, which we’re sure you’ll agree is beautifully designed as well as productive!

Aquaponics systems are famous for growing leafy greens very well, but how about denser crops such as soybeans, strawberries, egg plant, passion fruit and okra? (Fast-forward to 4.10)

At 15.45 we get a breakdown of how their system is designed and works, and at 19.00 we are shown an essential ‘ingredient’ list for how you can make your own system like theirs.

Amazing work!

Being a health-nut, London born Pippa has struggled to adjust to the lack of availability of lettuce and kale since re-locating to India. Previously naive to the extent of the worlds food struggles, she has now become obsessed with sustainability in food production and especially in India where it needs it the most (plus she’s also hoping to get her hands on some kale any day now). When she’s not writing for Aquaponics in India, she is usually found with her head in a book or in the kitchen experimenting with new vegetarian recipes.
