There is often a certain level of amazement when people first learn about aquaponics and how it works.

No soil? The fish feed the plants? The plants grow how fast?!

We like this video from the BBC showing locals pushing forward with a local food initiative ‘Incredible Edible.’ Local food is so important as it gets people supporting local farmers which is an investment in the community, it also encourages an interest in children and educates people as to how amazing and fun it is to grow their own food.

Also, skip to 2 minutes in and you’ll see an aquaponics system in a school, that is not only being used to provide vegetables and fish for the children, but also teaching them maths with the fish/plants ratios.
